What is a myocardial infarction or heart attack ? It is a life threatening emergency. It presents itself when, following the rupture of an atherosclerotic plaque, a blood clot occludes a coronary artery. The obstruction of the artery prevents blood form providing oxygen to the concerned region of the heart. As a consequence, this cardiac region loses the ability to contract and pump blood. Without an immediate intervention, it risks being permanently damaged. This video is part of the ELIPS program more information: elips.hug-ge.ch [...]

Percutaneous Coronary Intervention, commonly known as coronary or balloon angioplasty, is a procedure to widen blocked arteries and restore blood flow to the heart muscle. PCI is used in cases where plaque buildup inside the arteries, known as athersclerosis or “hardening of the arteries,” causes a risk factor for heart attack. Coronary angiography, which uses a special dye visible on live X-Ray, is performed to locate the blocked artery. A balloon catheter expands the artery at the blockage, allowing blood to flow through the artery. A stent is often used to keep the artery open. A drug-eluting stent releases medication over time that will keep the blockage from reforming inside the stent. Can we cure, prevent or stop heart attacks? What is the famous treatment of heart disease with the Buteyko breathing exercises? Learn how breathing retraining can prevent heart disease from Dr. Artour Rakhimov. Medical research (tens studies!) has shown that angina pain, during heart attack, appears due to hyperventilation (or breathing more than the medical norm). Hyperventilation or breathing more than the norm, as it is the case with all heart patients, constricts coronary arteries and arterioles, and reduces oxygen delivery to the heart muscle tissue. What is the heart attack treatment then? About 90% of heart patients can stop their heart attacks by practicing a simple reduced breathing exercise developed by Soviet MD Konstantin Buteyko and cure heart disease with breath retraining. Are there any medical doctors who successfully applied some therapy for patients to reverse their heart disease and prevent heart attacks? Yes, there are over 170 such medical professionals. Western official medicine wrongly claims that heart disease is impossible to treat and reverse. However, based on clinical experience and medical statistical data of Russian doctors, we can positively assert that chronic heart disease can be reversed since it is based on ineffective breathing pattern (over-breathing or hyperventilation) that decreases heart oxygenation. Hence, treatment of heart disease should be based on reversal of abnormal breathing. How to stop heart attacks? People with heart … [...]
This 3D medical animation of heart surgery shows a coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) procedure used to combat coronary artery disease. Beginning with a midline sternal incision, the heart is connected to a perfusion machine which will take over the duties of the heart while the surgery takes place. Two different grafts are used to bypass the blocked coronary arteries: the internal thoracic artery from inside the chest wall, and the saphenous vein from the leg. After the procedure, the heart is shocked to restart its beating. A drainage tube is left at the incision site to drain away excess fluid. Item #ANS00253 [...]
phoenixnutritionals.com (CLICK HERE) In spite of dozens of drugs and numerous surgical procedures, heart disease is still the number one cause of death in most industrialized nations. While there are many forms of possible heart disease, the heart attack is the most common and most feared. Heart attacks can also come as a result of several causes, but the most common cause is the slow and steady blockage of arterial blood flow leading away from the heart. This narrowing of the arteries is called atherosclerosis. In theory, if we could reduce or remove the amount of atherosclerotic plaque, we could prevent the majority of heart attacks. This can now be done, in most cases, by safe, all-natural means. The American Dietetics Association has been telling us for decades, that the major cause of heart disease is the high saturated fat diet. This concept has prevented millions of people from preventing heart disease by diverting their attention to a factor that is minimal in the heart disease process. Diet does play a major role in the pathology of heart disease, but its not the saturated fats that are the culprit but rather the oxidized, rancid vegetable oils consumed in extremely high amounts that have led us to the heart disease epidemic. If you wish to follow a truly heart health diet, consider eliminating as many vegetable oils from your diet except for olive oil, which is actually heart healthy. Olive oil is monounsaturated and as such does not oxidize and form free … [...]

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States for men and women. But, as Dr. Caldwell B. Esselstyn, Jr., a former internationally known surgeon, researcher and clinician at the Cleveland Clinic, explains, it can be prevented, reversed, and even abolished. Dr. Esselstyn argues that conventional cardiology has failed patients by developing treatments that focus only on the symptoms of heart disease, rather than the cause. This is a 10-minute excerpt from Dr. Esselstyn’s 90-minute talk at the Healthy Lifestyle Expo 2007.
